Mendenhall Lake Ice Floe

A chunk of recently released ice from Mendenhall Glacier floats in Mendenhall Lake, with a couple of ghostly others suspended in the distant fog. We are witnessing the great cycle of nature right in front of our eyes here, with glacial ice formed hundreds of years ago returning to its liquid form, and salmon migrating up Steep Creek and returning to their spawning grounds.
