On The Summit Of Mont Blanc…

Laurent Dick on Summit Of Mont Blanc - (c) Laurent Dick - Alaska365… and at the top of the Alps and on the roof of Western Europe – 4,810 m (15,781 ft).  What an incredible feeling to stand at the top of this magical mountain world and to fulfill a longtime dream. It’s a moment I will never forget. To the left of my ice axe is Monte Rosa, with 4,634 m (15,203 ft ) the highest mountain in Switzerland. Thanks to François Delas for his patience on the last 300 m of our ascent when the thin air slowed my progress down to a crawl.

Climbing Mont Blanc

François Delas Climbing Mont Blanc - (c) Laurent Dick - Alaska365French mountain guide François Delas kicks steps at sunrise during our ascent of Mont Blanc. We left the Refuge des Cosmiques shortly after 1 AM, and climbed through the early morning hours with our headlamps on. During the night and early morning, snow conditions are more stable and less energy is expended then by climbing during the heat of the day. More pictures to follow of what can easily be considered one of the most incredible high altitude journeys in the world!
