Alpenglow Over Mount Foraker

Alpenglow illuminates the northern flanks of Mount Foraker, elevation 17,400 feet. I captured this scene from around 8,000 feet while on an evening sightseeing flight with Kantishna Air Taxi. Kantishna Air Taxi has been providing flight tours since 1992, allowing visitors to get incredible aerial vistas of Denali National Park. Its base of operation is at the end of the 94-mile gravel road, deep within Denali National Park. Granted a concession permit by the National Park Service, they are the only air operator that is based within the boundaries of Denali National Park and Preserve. Kantishna Air Taxi is the only company allowed to provide scenic Alaskan tours from Kantishna and provide air taxi service at the McKinley Park airstrip near the park entrance. I definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to experience Denali National Park from the air.

Alaska Range From 30,000 Feet

undefined

Headed up to Fairbanks yesterday on a short overnight trip. The Alaska Airlines flight over the Alaska Range was spectacular, with great vistas of Denali, Mount Foraker, and all the glaciers on the south side, most prominently the Eldridge Glacier in the center of this image.

ALASKA365 WITH NEW LOOK!

After five years, I decided it was time to change the look of Alaska365. So as we transition into 2011, it seems appropriate to introduce my new and improved site. It is still work in progress and will see some minor changes in the days and weeks to come.

While I will continue to post a daily picture as often as I can, this new platform will allow me to post multiple images in both horizontal and vertical format.

You can search the site by using keywords, categories, or access the archives by month. At the bottom of the site you can even search individual posts by date by scrolling over the post calendar.

I am also very excited that anybody who would like to leave a comment can do so at in the white box below each post. I encourage all of you who follow me through this site to leave any feedback and/or suggestions you may have. I will answer each comment as soon as I can.

Last but not the least, you can share Alaska365 with many of the social networking sites by a simple click.

One more thing: The website address will be again Alaska365.com in …
