Yukon Quest Volunteers – The Backbone Of The Race

There are hundreds of volunteers on both sides of the border that make the event happen. Without them, there would be no race. The Yukon Quest Air Force is made up of volunteer pilots who support the Yukon Quest by providing air transport of race personnel, dogs and handlers, straw for the dogs as well as food and supplies for the checkpoints. Here, volunteer pilot Zack Knaebel taxis his Piper Super Cub through fresh snow on the Fortymile River near the Yukon/Alaska border.
