Antarctica: Looking Back One Year And Looking Ahead One Year

I took this picture exactly one year ago, on February 25, 2012, as I was heading back up the Gerlache Strait on board the M/V Plancius while I was working as a photo guide for Oceanwide Expeditions. It goes without saying that Antarctica is a photographer’s dream. After guiding another expedition in March 2012 I knew then that it was not going to be my last journey to Antarctica…  Today I am very excited that in 10 months I will return to Antarctica, by sailboat this time again like during my initial trip in 2008, as one of the expedition leaders for the 2014 Antarctica Photo Expedition.

New Print Installation Of Antarctica Images In Tasmania

The Salamanca Wharf Hotel, a first-class hotel located in the cultural and historical heart of Hobart , Tasmania, and scheduled to open in December 2012, will feature 20 of my epic Antarctica images in large print format (30×40 inches) in all of their rooms. Can’t wait to travel to Tasmania myself and see this impressive installation of my prints firsthand! One of the prints is of my friend Troy Henkels navigating icebergs with his kiteboard during our historic ‘In the Wake of the Belgica’ sailing expedition to the Antarctic Peninsula. Can’t wait to go back to Antarctica as well!
