Record Snowfall In Juneau

Juneau Alaska Winter - Photo (c) Laurent Dick - Wild Alaska TravelJuneau digs out from a record breaking snowfall over the weekend. The National Weather Service says eight-and-half inches of snow fell at Juneau International Airport over the 24-hour period that ended at midnight on Sunday. That broke a record of 6.3 inches of snow set back in 1946. The skies were clear on Monday to welcome to Alaska Governor-elect Bill Walker and Lt. Governor-elect Byron Mallott  for Inauguration Day.

Gold Creek

Heavy snow is falling above Gold Creek near downtown Juneau yesterday. Snow combined with lower water volume in the creek are definite signs that winter is slowly closing in on us.
