St. James Bay State Marine Park

It’s tough sometimes to feel a sense of solitude around Juneau, especially during the busy summer tourist season. We found it during our boat excursion last week. After crossing Lynn Canal in building seas we found many protected anchorages in St. James Bay State Marine Park near the Chilkat Peninsula. Except for a commercial crabbing vessel occasionally checking its pots we were alone, and we really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this beautiful area. Our camp on a small island in the ‘Little Brothers’ is visible near the center of this picture.
