Humpback Whales In Lynn Canal

Back in Juneau, I have been reintroduced to the magic of marine life on a photo tour with Gastineau Guiding yesterday. Thanks to Stacy La Mascus for sharing your passion about the marine world and Humpback whales in particular. Pretty soon, we will bid farewell to most of the Humpback whales pictured here, as they will take a break in their Alaska feeding frenzy and embark on their 3000-mile seasonal migration to their breeding grounds in Hawaii. As Stacy put it, “their kitchen is in Alaska, their bedroom is in Hawaii!” This shot was taken on the west side of Lynn Canal, close to the Chilkat Peninsula near the base of Mount Golub.
