Flying Above The Fall Colors In Denali National Park

I have been editing some of my recent images from Denali National Park, and this one stood out not because it’s a striking picture but because it summed up in many ways my experience up there. The shadow of Greg Lahaie’s Cessna 206 is small even in this relatively close range. The tapestry of color in the tundra was simply gorgeous, especially the bright yellow among the willow shrubs. The trails on the left edge of the picture were created by caribou, the great nomads of the North. It’s a magical time to be at Denali National Park for the peak of the fall colors, and I feel lucky that the timing was right this time around.
