A Mundane Subject

Florian and I toured the United States Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf yesterday. It’s the newest, largest, most technically advanced class of national security cutters in the Coast Guard, and has been docked in Juneau for a couple of days on their first Alaska patrol. As we toured the cutter, I looked for a unusual photo opportunity, maybe from up on the bridge. What I ended up photographing was a section of the logo off the side of the bow. I broke the logo down into a collection of shapes, colors and spatial relationships. Creating a unique picture from a mundane subject definitely takes a little extra effort, but it’s always fun to challenge ourselves to seeing things in a fresh way.
